Looking for the best unflavored protein powder?

Drink Wholesome makes the best unflavored egg white protein powder with 100% real foods. Ingredients like these are not only better for you, but also better tasting. Why?

1. Many protein powders are full of heavily processed food additives. Although ingredients like these are not necessarily bad for you in small quantities, they can add up quickly, especially if you drink a protein shake every day. At higher quantities, food additives can cause side effects

Here is a list of the most common additives in protein powder:

acacia gum, acesulfame potassium, artificial flavors, aspartame, carrageenan, cellulose gum, dextrin, dextrose, erythritol, gellan gum, guar gum, gum arabic, inulin, locust bean gum, “natural” flavors*, maltodextrin, rice syrup solids, soy lecithin, silica, sucralose, sunflower lecithin, xanthan gum, xylitol

2. Many protein powders have a chalky aftertaste because they are made with protein concentrates or isolates, foods chemically and/or mechanically stripped of everything but the protein. Protein concentrates and isolates are listed on the ingredient list as “whey protein” and “soy protein” as opposed to “whey” and “soybeans.” Unlike real foods, they are missing the nutrients (healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, etc.) that make food taste good.

3. Many protein powders have a bitter aftertaste because they are made with stevia or artificial sweeteners like sucralose and acesulfame potassium. Unlike sugar, sweeteners like these activate bitter taste receptors in addition to sweet taste receptors.

We use a natural sweetener called monk fruit. Monk fruit – also known as luo han guo – is a melon-like fruit native to Southeast Asia. Monk fruit sweetener is created by removing the seeds and skin of the fruit, crushing the fruit, and collecting the juice, which is then dried into a concentrated powder. Unlike artificial sweeteners and stevia, it tastes like sugar.

7 reviews for unflavored

  1. Thomas Heinz

I’m a big fan of Drink Wholesome and I’ve tried and like all of the flavors, so I thought I would give the unflavored a try. It really doesn’t taste like much at all. When mixed with banana and peanut butter, it’s like it’s not even there. 90 calories for 20 grams of protein is impressive too. Really good product.

  2. Michelle Yoast

Really small serving size which is nice. Didn’t realize it didn’t come with scoop. Not a big deal really. Mixes so well. Barely tastes like anything. Only complaint is the size of the bag – will have to order more soon!

  3. Trevor McCullen

Really good stuff. I barely notice it. I tried it on it’s own (with water), and it was actually pretty good.

  4. Katherine Ryan

I have been making peanut butter protein balls with this. They come out great every time. Not at all chalky or gritty. Easy five stars!!

  5. Tina Hoppel

This stuff rocks!!! I throw a scoop in my smoothie in the morning. I like knowing that it’s just egg whites.

  6. Noelle Du

I add it to my greens smoothies. It’s perfect. The bag is a bit hard to close though.

  7. Holly

Tastes great and good for diabetics.
