Most protein powders contain food additives. Although food additives are not necessarily bad for you in small quantities, they can add up quickly, especially if you drink a protein shake every day. At higher quantities, food additives can cause nasty side effects.

Protein isolates are listed on the ingredient list as “whey protein,” “pea protein,” and “soy protein,” as opposed to “milk,” “peas,” and “soybeans.”

We use chickpeas because we find that they can compete with whey and egg white protein in terms of taste, mouthfeel, and even functionality. When it comes to other plant-based proteins, chickpeas are a frontrunner. Although they have a similar nutritional profile to green and yellow split peas, they taste far better. Chickpea protein powder is also non-allergenic, non-GMO (unlike soy), and has an excellent amino acid profile.

    This new vegan flavor is unreal. I really liked the old peanut butter chocolate flavor, but this one is even better. By far the best vegan protein powder I’ve had. It’s has the perfect amount of sweetness if you mix it with dairy free milk. The vanilla is subtle and the maple sugar is a nice touch. The best part is that it makes me feel good. No bloating at all! Yay for good ingredients.

    I was desperate for a safe protein powder. I found this one and really like it! It doesn’t cause stomach pain (has been an issue for me in the past). It’s definitely sweet with more maple than vanilla flavor in my option.

    This doesn’t taste chalky or gritty, at all. Smooth consistency, sweet but not too sweet. I’d never tried a chickpea protein powder before and I like it much more than pea protein. It doesn’t have that plant aftertaste. Definitely recommend.

    This is the only protein powder I’ve tried that doesn’t cause bloating. Mixes surprisingly well and tastes very good for plant-based. I only wish it came in bigger bags.
