Make the best protein powder banana muffins with Drink Wholesome. Our protein powder is made by hand in the USA with 100% real foods – no chalky protein concentrates or isolates, no food additives, just real foods.
Banana muffins are one of my favorite things to make. They are quick and easy to make and the perfect grab-and-go snack. If only they were high in protein…
I have created an amazing banana protein muffins recipe! Not only is it high in protein, but it is added sugar free and made with simple, healthy ingredients. It is not every day that you can feel good about eating a muffin!
These hearty muffins are a great way to start your day. They also pack well and make for good trail food. Have you ever had a muffin at the summit? There is nothing better!
This recipe was made with Drink Wholesome vanilla protein powder. It is perfect for baking and stands head and shoulders above the other protein powders that we tried.
Most protein powders are not good for baking because they are made with protein concentrates and isolates, foods chemically and/or mechanically stripped of everything but the protein. Unlike real foods, protein concentrates and isolates are missing the nutrients – healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, etc. – that make food taste good. (They turn delicious desserts into hockey pucks.) With enough trial and error, you can make most protein powders work, but how many rock hard muffins are you willing to make?
Drink Wholesome is also perfect for baking because it is sweetened with monk fruit. Monk fruit, also known as lo han guo, is a small, melon-like round fruit native to Southeast Asia. Monk fruit sweetener is made by removing the seeds and skin, crushing the fruit, and collecting the juice, which is then dried into a powder.
Unlike artificial sweeteners and stevia, which are used in most protein powders, monk fruit sweetener has a sweetness profile similar to that of sugar. (Many people, myself included, find artificial sweeteners to be way too sweet and find stevia to have a terrible, bitter aftertaste.) This means that you do not have to worry about adding sugar or making something that tastes like Splenda. Order samples to taste the monk fruit sweetness for yourself.
Now without further ado, here is the best protein powder banana muffins recipe.
-2 large bananas
-¾ cup oat flour
-½ cup Drink Wholesome vanilla protein powder
-1 tsp baking powder
-½ tsp baking soda
-¼ tsp salt
-¼ cup chocolate chips (or walnuts)
Preheat the oven to 35Oº F and grease a muffin tin. In a medium bowl, mash the two bananas with a fork. Whisk in the egg. In a small bowl, mix together the oat flour, protein powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined. Fold in the chocolate chips or walnuts. Scoop the batter into the muffin tins until they are about ¾ full. Bake for 15 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
You are reading a post by Drink Wholesome, a small business from New Hampshire. Drink Wholesome has taken a fundamentally better approach to protein powder by using 100% real food ingredients. Unlike the highly processed ingredients (artificial sweeteners, food additives, etc.) used in most protein supplements, real foods do not cause stomach pain. Moreover, unlike the protein concentrates and isolates used in most protein supplements, real foods do not have a chalky aftertaste. Order samples to see for yourself.
