3 reasons why drink wholesome is easy to digest

1. drink wholesome is additive-free. Most protein powders are full of food additives. Although they are not necessarily bad for you in small quantities, food additives can add up quickly, especially if you drink a protein shake every day. At higher quantities, food additives can cause GI side effects.
Many food additives are hard to digest. As a result, they sit in your gut for longer than they should. This gives the bacteria that live there time to eat the partially digested food. As they eat, these gut bacteria produce gas, which can cause bloating, cramps, and nausea.
Gas also slows colonic transit (the amount of time it takes food to travel through the colon). This can lead to constipation. In the long term, food additives can disrupt regulatory pathways in the intestine, which can result in the development of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and systemic inflammatory disorders.
Keep an eye out for artificial sweeteners too. Artificial sweeteners can alter the composition of your gut microbiota (the collection of microorganisms that help you digest food). This can lead to serious GI problems and widespread inflammation.
Artificial sweeteners, especially sugar alcohols like xylitol, can also cause diarrhea because they draw water into your gut. Now you have something to blame for those post-protein shake trips to the bathroom. Finally, artificial sweeteners are poorly absorbed by the gut. This means that they feed your hungry gut bacteria.
Here is a list of the most common food additives in protein powder:
acacia gum, acesulfame potassium, artificial flavors, aspartame, carrageenan, cellulose gum, dextrin, dextrose, erythritol, gellan gum, guar gum, gum arabic, inulin, locust bean gum, “natural” flavors*, maltodextrin, rice syrup solids, soy lecithin, silica, sucralose, sunflower lecithin, xanthan gum, xylitol
When it comes to identifying food additives, go with your gut. As a rule of thumb, they are the ingredients that you cannot pronounce.
our ingredients:
egg whites, coconut, vanilla, monk fruit
the alternative:
Protein Matrix Comprised of (Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Isolate, Calcium Caseinate, Micellar Casein, Milk Protein Isolate, Egg Albumen, Glutamine Peptides), Polydextrose, Sunflower Creamer (Sunflower Oil, Corn Syrup Solids, Sodium Caseinate, Mono- and Diglycerides, Dipotassium Phosphate, Tricalcium Phosphate, Soy Lecithin, Tocopherols), Natural and Artificial Flavor, MCT Powder (Medium Chain Triglycerides, Nonfat Dry Milk, Disodium Phosphate, Silicon Dioxide), Lecithin, Cellulose Gum, Salt, Yellow 5, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, Papain, Bromelain
*This is the actual ingredient list of one of the best-selling protein powders in the United States.
2. drink wholesome is dairy-free. Dairy-based proteins like whey and casein are byproducts of cheese and yogurt production. They are known to cause digestive issues, especially for people with lactose intolerance and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Over one in three Americans are lactose intolerant, and the prevalence of IBS is somewhere between 10 and 15 percent in the United States. It follows that you may be lactose intolerant or have IBS and not even know it.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a poorly understood condition, and it is unclear why dairy triggers symptoms. Lactose intolerance, on the other hand, is clearly understood. People with lactose intolerance are unable to fully digest lactose, the sugar in dairy. As you just learned, partially digested food feeds the bacteria in your gut, which produce gas.
3. drink wholesome is minimally processed. Most protein powders, on the contrary, are made with protein concentrates and isolates, foods chemically or mechanically stripped of everything but the protein. They are listed on the ingredient list as “pea protein,” for example, as opposed to “peas.” Although there is no evidence that protein isolates and concentrates are bad for your gut, it is safe to say that real foods are better. Your gut always prefers the real thing, not some heavily-processed imitation.
Instead of protein concentrates or isolates, we use egg whites. Egg whites are simply broken, pasteurized, and dried before becoming protein powder. Unless you have a sensitivity or allergy to eggs, egg white protein is the best protein for people with sensitive stomachs. Egg whites are low in fiber, low-FODMAP, and have the highest protein digestibility-corrected amino acid score (PDCAAS) of any whole food.

Over the years I’ve tried different powders and they all have tasted terrible. So I gave up, until I found DrinkWholesome. Minimal ingredients, awesome flavors and keeps me satisfied during my work day! So far I’ve tried vanilla & peanut butter – next chocolate! Order the sample pack, that’s what I did and I was sold.
Shayla –
Hi . I bought a couple samples . Honestly hands down the best protein powder I’ve ever had . I barely taste anything with the vanilla flavors it’s just like drinking a glass of water . It gives me exactly what I need . I’m ordering a full bag now . Thanks for making these products .
I also recommend this product to my nutritionist. She’s going to be recommend it to her gastric bypass patients now . She’s very impressed with how you’ve made these so healthy.
You can add a teaspoon of sugar free jello pudding powder for flavor its amazing . Recommend by my nutritionist.

Love this product. Getting over a severe flare up with diverticulitis and this was the only source of protein I could handle without having any pain afterwards.

It’s delicious!! Just tried it and I’m so happy. I’m on a strict alkaline diet and all the other proteins have at least one ingredient I can’t have. So happy…thank you!
Kayla –
I love this stuff!! I currently have vanilla, chocolate, and PB, and love all 3😍😍😍. Finally found a protein powder that doesn’t make me bloated.
Ryan –
Just wanted to say your protein powder is amazing. Have had Crohn’s for 30+ years. I do a lot of yogurt smoothies, but wanted to get more protein. Found you online and tried it. Well done! Anyone with Crohn’s should be aware of your product.

TALK ABOUT A GAME CHANGER! This protein changed my life and made my tummy even happier! Every vegan and whey protein I’ve tried has immediately hurt my stomach after drinking it, BUT THIS ONE is DIFFERENT! No bloating, cramps or gas!! I am so happy with this product, you won’t be disappointed!☺️ Now go get yours!
Mallory –
Thank you for creating this product ! I have gastroparesis and this is the only thing that has worked for me! I have tried every other protein powder and it all makes me throw up sick! I tried yours tonight and my stomach doesn’t hurt and I’m not sick!! Thank you again!!!

I ordered the samples before I committed to a large bag because I was skeptical. I’ve tried a lot of other protein powders and they messed up my gut health SO BAD. I’ve been taking digestive enzymes and leaky gut supplements so I was nervous to try a new protein powder as it took a long time to get back on track, but this stuff. THIS STUFF. I used the chobani lactose free milk with the vanilla tastes like the inside of an almond joy and I got 40 grams of protein in. Also for all my calorie counters/ gym rats in cutting season, the unflavored powder has 90 cals, plus 1/2 cup of the chobani milk is 80. 170 calories, 30 grams of protein and it’s just like you’re drinking regular milk. Add vanilla extract or fruits for extra flavor but needless to say this will be my new go to!

Taste great, I mix it with hazelnut milk, bananas and peanut butter!
Great meal supplement, I drink them for lunch and it keeps me full the whole day.
No upset stomach! I’ve tried other protein powders in the past including HUEL, that just messed me up internally. These simple ingredients agree much better with my stomach.

Really good product and the customer service is fantastic.

Tastes great blended with frozen fruit. It’s hard to describe, but this protein powder just makes me feel good! I used to use whey, and it always made with bloated and gassy. I’m so glad that I stumbled across drink wholesome. Definitely good if you’re lactose sensitive.

Andrea Deptula –
Very good! No stomach issues anymore! I love the short list of ingredients. I ordered samples before I committed to a large bag, that’s a nice option that many other companies do not offer.
I am a new customer for sure!

First of all, I love that you can see the specs of vanilla. That’s now you know it’s real! Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this flavor and the company. I ordered samples a few weeks ago and had a bunch of questions. I called and left a voicemail. Someone call me right back and was so helpful. He even gave me two extra samples free of charge. I just ordered my first full bag a few days ago and couldn’t be happier. It’s the first time that a protein powder has given me zero stomach issues. Kudos for the great product and customer service.

So happy I found drink wholesome!! The vanilla is perfect for smoothies. I mix it with frozen strawberries, blueberries, and almond milk. Easy to digest and a great way to start my day.

Awesome shake. I’ve had Crohn’s disease for +20 years and it’s always been hard to find a protein powder my stomach could handle. I have no problem with digestion and it taste great. Highly recommend if you have any type of IBS or Crohn’s.
Sage Nocera –
Great tasting, easy digesting protein powder at an affordable price.

I have long avoided protein powders because of all the additives and the lack of “real food”. I’ve been aiming to eat a more “real food” (less processed foods, less sugar, etc) diet for the past several years and finding Drink Wholesome is like a dream! I grew up drinking chocolate milk for breakfast every day and did until my late 20’s. Once starting my real food journey, I realized what I was drinking was not real food! I’ve also become sensitive to gluten and dairy over the last 5 years. Since it’s gluten and dairy free, I’m thrilled to have discovered this! Drink Wholesome allows me to enjoy drinking my breakfast once again but to feel great about it since it’s only real food and minimal sugar! The vanilla tastes like a less sugary-sweet vanilla milkshake (I drink mine with almond milk). When I use my immersion blender to quick blend it up, the consistency is like a melted milkshake and I love it! I add a cup of coffee to it and it tastes like the yummiest vanilla latte! Drink Wholesome is not chalky or too sweet. It doesn’t taste artificial. I’ve even gotten my husband to enjoy it which is big!

JACQUELINE PACE –
I was so worried about the taste of this being just horrible but I was so wrong! It taste good and it doesn’t mess up my stomach. My ONLY complaint is the cost is a little high for me but other than that it is great!
Larry Y –
I’ve tried a lot of brands but this is the best protein powder I’ve had. Limited and simple ingridients, no artificial sweeteners and great taste make this one my go to!
Constance Ramon –
I have tried other powder protein drinks and they always upset my stomach. Frustrating 🙁 However, with wholesome drink it’s comfortably filling and sooo delicious! I am a very happy and thankful customer 😊
Getchie Argetsinger –
I love this protein powder…delicious and filling…first protein powder I have found that does NOT upset my stomach! Thank you for this wonderful, whole food product!
Sage Nocera –
Having tried my fair share of protein blends. This one is definitely at the top of my preferences. Digest easily as well as taste and mixes great.
Susan McKevitt –
Thanks for including the scoop, it makes it much easier to measure a serving. I can’t wait to get my grandsons onto this. They may go for a different flavor but hey, all good. Thanks for being so accommodating to my needs. I love your service…and the product!
Emily Mcclelland –
I can’t have most protein powders and this is the cleanest out there. Tastes great too.
Arnaldo Colon –
So far great! Personally I have always been ok with eggs and I am tolerating the product without issue. I have a really sensitive stomach and have been bouncing between mostly vegan varieties of post workout protein supplements. Please fix the sample, it’s confusing. It’s a partial serving meant for tasting, but that’s not clear.
David Figueroa-Ortiz –
It takes like smooth vanilla milk! No after taste; no chalkiness; just pure milk. It mixes easily without clumping. I use it in smoothies and, my new favorite snack: I put a serving of the powder into Greek yogurt, add a little milk or water, and mix it up for a flavorful and super high protein treat.
Jessica Kowalski –
The best vanilla protein powder I have ever had. It tastes like a vanilla milkshake. I love it and the ingredients! I wish it came in a bigger bag!
Kimberly Valpey –
Delicious and easy to prepare. I sometimes add banana, molasses, or peanut butter. It gets me ready for the day!
Beverly Brown –
Finally, a protein shake that actually tastes good! It mixes well and all the ingredients are good for you. I’m using the vanilla and I often add other ingredients: banana, peanut butter, cocoa, fruit jam, etc. You guys are doing a great job – thank you!!!
