What are electrolyte popsicles?

Electrolyte popsicles are frozen treats made by freezing a mixture of water and electrolyte-rich ingredients. They are designed to help replenish essential electrolytes lost in sweat. You can make electrolyte popsicles at home by following the recipe below. Commercially produced electrolyte popsicles are also available, but they tend to contain ingredients that you should think twice about putting into your body.

Why make electrolyte popsicles?

Electrolyte popsicles are one of the best ways to hydrate on a hot summer day. They contain water, electrolytes, and sugar, which work together to ensure rapid, effective hydration.

Electrolytes are crucial for overall health and well-being. They help regulate the balance of fluids in and around your cells, which is essential for maintaining proper hydration as well as nerve and muscle function. Sugars bind to electrolytes (sodium in particular) and help deliver water and to your tissues, faster.

Making electrolyte popsicles is a fun and delicious way to make sure you are replenishing electrolytes and staying hydrated. They have the added benefit of being cool and refreshing, making them a post-workout favorite.

If you are a parent, you will be happy to know that kids love popsicles with electrolytes. There is no better way to keep the whole family hydrated, and everyone can pitch in making this simple electrolyte popsicles recipe.

Why drink wholesome

Available in strawberry and blueberry flavors, our hydration powders are hands down the best addition to your electrolyte popsicle recipe. We use simple ingredients like real fruit, coconut water, maple sugar, and sea salt, all of which are safe and easy to digest.

our ingredients:

blueberries, coconut water, maple sugar, sea salt

the alternative:

SUGAR, DEXTROSE, CITRIC ACID, SALT, SODIUM CITRATE, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, MONOPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, CALCIUM SILICATE, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, CARAMEL COLOR, RED 40

As you can clearly see, most other sports drinks and electrolyte powders contain a cocktail of artificial and/or heavily-processed ingredients. Ingredients like these can cause painful side effects and long term health problems. Basically, fake flavors, fake sweeteners, and other food additives look nothing like real food, making them hard to digest. This can cause digestive issues like bloating and diarrhea.

It can also alter the composition of your gut microbiome – the collection of microorganisms living in your gut. An altered gut microbiome is a leading cause of inflammation in the body, and linked to the onset and progression of several chronic diseases.

The Best Electrolyte Popsicles Recipe

Ingredients:

– 2 cups water

– 2 tbsp hydration powder

-fresh or frozen fruit (optional)

Instructions:

In a blender, blend the hydration powder with the water. Pour the mixture into popsicle molds, add the fresh or frozen fruit, and place the molds in the freezer. If you do not have popsicle molds, you can always use ice cube trays or small plastic or paper cups. Once frozen (two to three hours later), run the molds under warm water to loosen the popsicles. If you use an ice tray as the mold, you can add your electrolyte-rich ice cubes to your favorite summer drink.
