Egg Protein for Weight Management
Can Egg White Protein Help With Me Lose Weight?
Adding Egg White Protein Powder to your diet can help you lose weight for several reasons, including:
- Increased satiety: Protein is the most satiating macronutrient, meaning it keeps you feeling full for longer than nutrients like fats and carbs. This can help prevent cravings and overeating.
- Increased thermogenesis: Protein increases thermogenesis, or your metabolic rate and energy expenditure.
- Increase muscle synthesis: Eating protein can help you build muscle. People with more muscle mass have faster metabolisms (burn more calories) because it takes more energy (calories) to maintain muscle than fat.
In short, a high-protein diet can help with weight loss as it helps increase satiety and metabolism.
Protein powder not only offers an easy way to eat more protein, but also a convenient way to increase the percentage of your calories that come from protein.
In other words, it helps you eat lots of protein without eating lots of calories, fats, carbs, etc.
That is because protein powder, compared to most foods, contains lots of protein by weight.
It can also be mixed with just milk or water to make a protein shake, or easily added to smoothies, oatmeal, and other recipes.
To be fair, egg white protein powder is no better for weight loss than any other type of protein powder, but it does have several unique benefits:
- Egg whites are naturally high in protein. A dried egg white is 80% protein, which gives it more protein per gram than any other whole food. Dried egg whites are basically nature’s protein powder! Most other dietary protein sources (peas, whey, etc.) have to be mechanically or chemically stripped of other nutrients (fats, carbs. etc.) before they can be used as protein powder.
- Egg white protein is complete. A complete protein contains all nine essential amino acids that the body needs, but cannot produce on its own. Many dietary proteins, including most plant-based proteins, are not complete.
- Egg whites are easy to digest. Unless you have a sensitivity or allergy to eggs, egg white protein is the best type of protein for people with gut issues and sensitive stomachs.
- Egg whites taste good. Most protein powders have a chalky aftertaste because they are made with protein concentrates or isolates, foods stripped of everything but the protein. Egg whites, on the contrary, are a delicious, whole food protein source.
Not all egg white protein powders are created equal, however.
What Is the Best Egg White Protein Powder for Weight Loss?
Unfortunately, some egg white protein powders contain ingredients known to cause painful side effects and even long-term health problems.
Among these ingredients are food additives.
Avoid Food Additives
Regularly eating food additives like emulsifiers, thickeners, and flavorings can not only upset your stomach, but also alter the composition and function of your gut microbiome.
This, in turn, can cause gut dysbiosis, which can impair weight loss through several mechanisms.
Imbalances in gut microbiota composition, for instance, can influence energy metabolism, hunger regulation, and inflammation in ways that can make losing weight considerably harder.
Here is a list of the most common food additives in protein supplements:
- acacia fiber
- acacia gum
- acesulfame potassium
- artificial flavors
- ascorbic acid
- aspartame
- calcium carbonate
- carrageenan
- cellulose gum
- dextrin
- dicalcium phosphate
- dipotassium phosphate
- erythritol
- gellan gum
- guar gum
- gum arabic
- inulin
- locust bean gum
- maltitol
- maltodextrin
- mono- and diglycerides
- ‘natural’ flavors
- rice bran extract
- rice dextrin
- rice hulls
- rosemary extract
- silica
- silicon dioxide
- sodium alginate
- soluble corn fiber
- sorbitol
- soy lecithin
- sucralose
- sunflower lecithin
- tocopherols
- tricalcium phosphate
- xanthan gum
- xylitol
- zinc oxide
Basically, if you could not find an ingredient in nature or make it at home, it should not be in your protein powder.

Frequently asked questions
Who is Drink Wholesome for?
Drink Wholesome is the best protein powder for sensitive stomachs. Because it’s made from a short list of simple ingredients, it’s also a great option for anyone who wants to avoid artificial and ultra-processed ingredients – including kids, seniors, and moms.
Why is Drink Wholesome easy to digest?
No Dairy
Drink Wholesome is made without whey and casein, which contain lactose, a sugar most people can’t fully digest. Dairy-based proteins, especially casein, also form a gel-like substance in your stomach, which can upset sensitive stomachs.
No Additives
Drink Wholesome is made without food additives. Regularly eating artificial sweeteners, emulsifiers, thickeners, and other additives can cause digestive issues and even long-term gut health problems.
Whole Food Protein
Drink Wholesome is made from whole food protein sources like almonds and egg whites. Unlike ultra-processed protein concentrates and isolates, which have been stripped of fiber, enzymes, and other natural digestive aids, whole foods are easy to break down and absorb.
Collagen vs egg white vs almond protein powder?
We make three types of Protein Powder for sensitive stomachs: Collagen Protein Powder, Egg White Protein Powder, and Vegan Almond Protein Powder. As long as you eat a balanced diet (get protein from a variety of sources), any type of protein powder can help you meet your protein needs.
