Why Should I Make Protein Powder Cookie Dough?
I often find myself making cookie dough with no intention of baking cookies.
Although I do love homemade cookies, sometimes I would rather just eat the dough.
Who can relate?
Now what if I told you that you could turn this guilty pleasure into a healthy, protein-packed treat.
Edible protein powder cookie dough will satisfy your sweet tooth and help you meet your daily dietary protein needs.
It is easy to make, safe to eat, and simply delicious.
You can eat it with a spoon, use it to bake cookies, or add it to recipes.
Over the past few years, I have been adding protein powder to everything.
Protein is the most satiating (filling) macronutrient, meaning it helps to curb cravings and discourage overeating (Am J Clin Nutr, 2008).
One of the first recipes that I added it to was cookie dough.
This sweet, no-bake dessert is the perfect match for protein powder.
You can simply add a scoop of protein powder to most cookie recipes without changing the flavor or consistency.
In other cases, however, adding protein powder to a recipe will change it completely.
For this reason, this recipe is not a high protein version of a classic recipe, but an original recipe.
How Do I Customize High Protein Cookie Dough?
One of the best parts about this recipe is how customizable it is.
You can add ingredients like dried fruit, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, chia seeds, or flaxseeds for added texture and flavor.
And depending on what you add, you might also increase the nutritional value.
Nuts, for example, contain healthy fats.
You can also experiment with adding spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom for a fun twist.

Other protein powders are made from ultra-processed protein concentrates and isolates, which have been mechanically and/or chemically stripped of everything but the protein.
As a result, they have a chalky aftertaste and rubbery texture.
Whole foods, on the other hand, taste like real food.
It is worth adding that we sweeten our protein powders with monk fruit – a small, melon-like round fruit native to Southeast Asia.
We like monk fruit because it is sweet like sugar.
Other sugar substitutes, including artificial sweeteners, sugar alcohols, and stevia activate bitter taste receptors (J Agric Food Chem, 2016).
As you can imagine, this aftertaste might ruin your recipe!
