A gut-friendly vanilla meal replacement powder.
6 simple ingredients: egg whites, almonds, oats, coconut, cocoa, monk. fruit
3 reasons why it is easy to digest.

1. Our vanilla meal replacement powder is additive-free.
Our vanilla meal replacement powder is additive-free. Most meal replacements are made with food additives.
Although not necessarily bad for you in small quantities, additives can add up quickly (especially if you drink a meal replacement shake every day) and cause gastrointestinal (GI) side effects like bloating, constipation, diarrhea, gas, and stomach pain. This is because food additives are hard to digest, and sit in your gut for longer than food should, which gives your gut bacteria more time to eat. As they eat, these bacteria produce gas, which causes bloating and stomach pain. Gas also slows colonic transit (the amount of time it takes food to travel through the colon), and can lead to constipation. In the long term, food additives can disrupt regulatory pathways in the intestine, which can result in the development of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and systemic inflammatory disorders.
When buying vanilla meal replacement powder, one ingredient to avoid in particular is artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners are among the most harmful food additives in the long term as they alter the composition of your gut microbiota (the collection of microorganisms that help you digest food). This can lead to serious, chronic GI problems, widespread inflammation, and permanent damage to the gut microbiome. Some sweeteners, especially sugar alcohols like xylitol, are also poorly absorbed by the gut (meaning they feed those hungry gut bacteria), and cause diarrhea because they draw water into your intestine. Now you finally have something to blame for those post-meal replacement shake trips to the bathroom!
Here is a list of the most common food additives in meal replacements:
acacia gum, acesulfame potassium, artificial flavors, aspartame, carob bean gum, carrageenan, cellulose gum, dextrin, dextrose, erythritol, gellan gum, guar gum, gum arabic, inulin, locust bean gum, “natural” flavors, maltodextrin, rice syrup solids, soy lecithin, silica, sucralose, sunflower lecithin, xanthan gum, xylitol
When it comes to identifying food additives, go with your gut. 😉 As a rule of thumb, they are the ingredients that you cannot pronounce. Food additives are not the only thing to look out for when buying a meal replacement, however. There are several other ingredients that can upset your stomach.
our vanilla meal replacement powder ingredients:

the alternative:
SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE, CANOLA OIL, MALTODEXTRIN, ISOMALTULOSE, SOLUBLE CORN FIBER, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, VITAMIN AND MINERAL PREMIX, CELLULOSE, NATURAL & ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, SOY LECITHIN, SALT, MONO & DIGLYCERIDE, XANTHAN GUM, SUCRALOSE
*This is the actual ingredient list of one of the best-selling meal replacements in the United States.
2. Our vanilla meal replacement powder is dairy-free.
Our vanilla meal replacement powder is dairy-free. Most meal replacements are made with dairy-based proteins. Dairy-based proteins like whey and casein, which are byproducts of cheese and yogurt production, are known to cause digestive issues, especially for people with lactose intolerance and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Over one in three Americans are lactose intolerant, and the prevalence of IBS is somewhere between 10 and 15 percent in the United States. It follows that you may be lactose intolerant or have IBS and not even know it. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a poorly understood condition, and it is unclear why dairy triggers symptoms. Lactose intolerance, on the other hand, is clearly understood. People with lactose intolerance are unable to fully digest lactose, the sugar in dairy. As you just learned, partially digested food feeds the bacteria in your gut, which produce gas.
3. Our vanilla meal replacement powder is made with real foods.
Our vanilla meal replacement powder is minimally-processed. Most meal replacements, on the contrary, are made with protein concentrates and/or isolates, foods stripped of everything but the protein. They are listed on the ingredient list as “pea protein” and “whey protein” as opposed to “peas” and “whey.” I will not go into the details, but protein concentrates and isolates undergo heavy mechanical and chemical processing before becoming meal replacement powder. Sometimes, manufacturers use chemical solvents like hexane to isolate (separate) the protein from the food. This means that what you end up putting into your body looks nothing like real food.
If you think about it, your gut was designed to digest naturally occurring foods, not laboratory formulated imitations, so if you feed it anything but real food, it might get upset. The long term implications of eating processed foods are still not well understood, but more and more research is finding that it can alter the composition of your gut microbiota, and lead to permanent damage to the gut microbiome. It is therefore in your best interest to avoid meal replacements made with protein concentrates and isolates.
Instead of protein concentrates or isolates, we use egg whites. Egg whites are simply pasteurized and dried before becoming meal replacement. Unless you have a sensitivity or allergy to eggs, egg white protein is the best protein for your gut. Egg whites are low in fiber, low-FODMAP, naturally alkaline, and have the highest protein digestibility-corrected amino acid score (PDCAAS) of any whole food. Our customers have experienced fewer digestive issues with egg white protein than with any other type of protein.

FAQ
What is vanilla meal replacement powder?
Meal replacement powder is, to put it simply, a blend of powdered foods intended to replace the nutritional value of a meal. A good meal replacement therefore has a balance of protein, carbohydrates, and fats. The main source of complete protein in our vanilla meal replacement powder is egg whites. The main source of complex carbohydrates is gluten-free oats. The main source of healthy fats is almonds. Together, these ingredients will fill you up and give you the nutrition you need to lead a healthy lifestyle.
Why should I use vanilla meal replacement powder?
Vanilla meal replacement powder is intended to replace the nutritional value of a meal. It is also a convenient way to increase your calorie and protein intake. Depending on what your diet looks like, increasing your protein intake can help you gain weight or lose weight. Basically, if adding vanilla meal replacement powder to your diet helps you achieve and maintain a calorie deficit, you will lose weight, and if it helps you achieve and maintain a calorie surplus, you will gain weight. Check out our pages on weight gain and weight loss to learn more.
How do I use vanilla meal replacement protein powder?
1/2 cup of vanilla meal replacement powder is meant to be mixed with 1-2 cups of cold milk or water to make a meal replacement shake. Please use a blender or shaker bottle. Unlike other companies, we do not use food additives to help our vanilla meal replacement powder dissolve.
When should I use vanilla meal replacement protein powder?
The best time to add vanilla meal replacement powder to your diet is in the morning. Eating lots of protein breakfast will keep you full until lunch, discourage overeating, and reduce snacking later in the day. Higher protein intake at breakfast is also associated with higher total daily protein intake. In other words, a high protein breakfast, despite its satiating effects, allows you to maximize the amount of protein that you consume over the course of the day. That said, you can use vanilla meal replacement powder any time of day for a quick, nutritious meal.
Where is vanilla meal replacement powder made?
Whereas many meal replacement powders are manufactured overseas, our vanilla meal replacement protein powder is handmade in Plymouth, Massachusetts in a GFSI-Certified facility inspected by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Massachusetts Board of Health.

THANK YOU for creating Drink Wholesome! I’m so glad to finally have found a meal replacement with all-natural ingredients that I recognize, and that agrees with my system. If only it were Organic…

My dear cousin has stage 4 cancer, and due to chemo treatments she has very little appetite. So I sent her 2 of the meal replacements, vanilla & chocolate.
The vanilla is her favorite , she says the flavor is great and doesn’t make her feel nauseous. She’s going on her 3rd round of chemo and I just ordered 2 more of the vanilla for her.

Wow, battle Crohn’s so can’t eat much, and this is a game changer!

I bought this to replace some solid foods that cause acid reflux. It is a good replacement, tastes good, especially mixed with a banana or peanut butter. I use a blender and it mixes fine. One of my selling points other than gut friendly was that it’s made with monk fruit. I’ve been using monk fruit as a substitute for sugar now for 10 years. Say goodbye to sugar.

I make a shake everyday for lunch. No gas/flatulence. Would prefer a ready-to-go shake, but other than that I like it.

The flavor is on point. I feel like I can taste every one of the ingredients. Fills me up and doesn’t cause any bloating or gas. My only complaint is the packaging. The zipper is hard to use and there’s no scoop.
